That AI might not be possible is not my point at all. I think that the basis
of transhumanism must be built without necessarily recurring to super-tech.
For instance, Anders, Nick and me had a very interesting discussion while I
slept (I spoke by reflex). We discussed the idea of a hypothetical complete
stop of all technological development (this is not possible but for the
argument...), Nick said that this would be the end of transhumanism but
Anders and yours humbly didn't agree. Transhumanism's basic ideas are so
strong that they certainly will survive even an end to technology. I think
this is a very important point to make. I do think that AI (software capable
of high levels of intelligence) are possible and will (with the right
conditions) be developed. But if we just stick to superscience or very, very
weak ideas like Singularity we will loose some very important strong
features in transhumanism.
