Yeah - the commercial was awesome, wasn't it?? I saw it this morning in
the pre-superbowl newscasts. Pretty amazing stuff. For those of you that
haven't seen the commercial yet, its pretty much just "we're more advanced
than everyone else, our AI is better, we can make money for you." No
apologies, no humanizing of the tech, just "thinking machines." It really
was pretty exciting.
I also checked out their website after seeing the commercial - apparently
they're marketing this as a data mining implementation. I'm pretty sure
that this is just a (maybe less than most, but still) rudementary learning
algorithm of the type that you might see in a second year AI undergrad
course. The commercial (and I think the website) brag about nueral nets,
but I'm not sure how true their implementation is. The Microsoft child
diagnosis algorithm on their website is more of the same, abliet more
advanced, I think.
